JI announces million march towards US embassy for solidarity with Palestinians
ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced million march towards the United States embassy on the 27th day of Ramadan, aiming to demonstrate solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.
Speaking at a Gaza Solidarity March in Islamabad, JI Ameer Sirajul Haq criticized the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for its failure to take effective action for Palestinians, noting that it has remained limited to issuing statements only. He also lamented the lack of meaningful discourse on the Gaza situation in Pakistan’s parliament, remarking on the passage of ineffective resolutions.
Haq emphasized that millions of people are expected to participate in the march towards the American embassy on the specified day of Ramadan. He further commented on the political landscape of Pakistan, attributing the country’s economic challenges to the governance of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
He asserted that these political entities have inflicted considerable damage on Pakistan, and the nation cannot progress until they are ousted from power.
Regarding the recent General Elections, JI leader Senator Mushtaq Ahmed highlighted the ongoing crisis in Palestine, condemning Israel’s actions and the United States’ repeated vetoing of ceasefire resolutions in the United Nations. He also noted the support for Palestine among the general populace of America and Europe, contrasting it with the stance of their governments.
Earlier in March, Sirajul Haq called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sultan Akram Raja, citing alleged failures in conducting free and fair elections in 2024. Haq criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan for its inability to ensure transparent elections, claiming that the resulting government lacks legitimacy due to electoral irregularities.
He emphasized the importance of all institutions adhering to the constitution to foster stability in the country, asserting that the will of the Pakistani people expressed in the February 8th election must be respected.
