RAWALPINDI: Two militants were killed in an intelligence base operation (IBO) carried out in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that security forces launched the operation based on intelligence indicating the presence of militants in the area.

In the ensuing exchange of fire, two militants were eliminated, and weapons, ammunition, and explosives were seized from them.

The ISPR noted that these militants were actively involved in various terrorist activities in the region. Additionally, a thorough sanitization operation was underway to eradicate any remaining militants in the vicinity. The local populace commended the operation and pledged their full support to the security forces in eradicating the terrorism threat.

This operation occurs amidst a surge in terrorist incidents across the country, particularly in KP and Balochistan, following the termination of the ceasefire between the government and the outlawed militant organization Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022.
