Weather Alert: Rain and Storms Expected in Lahore and Punjab
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Lahore and parts of Punjab are expected to experience rain, wind, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms on Tuesday evening/night and Wednesday.
This weather pattern is anticipated due to a westerly wave likely to enter the western regions of Pakistan tonight, extending to most upper and central parts of the country by Wednesday.
Anticipated areas affected include Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Kasur, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Lahore, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, and surrounding areas during the mentioned period. Isolated hailstorms are also expected.
Heavy rainfall and snowfall in certain areas might lead to road closures in Murree and Galyat on Wednesday and Thursday.
Loose structures like electric poles and solar panels may risk damage from the wind, thunderstorms, or hailstorms.
Temperature-wise, Lahore is expected to have minimum temperatures between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 11 and 13 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
Over the last 24 hours, most parts of Punjab experienced cold or partly cloudy weather, with isolated rain in some areas.
The precipitation recorded includes 2mm in Lahore and 1mm in Dera Ghazi Khan. Murree registered the lowest temperature in the country at 2 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 63 per cent during the morning.
In Lahore, the minimum temperature recorded was 12 C, with a relative humidity of 78 per cent during the morning.
