In Islamabad, the Pakistani government has established the Nisab at PKR 135,179 for Zakat deduction from bank accounts during Ramadan 2024.

The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Security stated that individuals with savings, profit-and-loss sharing, or similar accounts will be liable for Zakat if their balance reaches Rs 135,179.

For the Islamic year 1444–45 A.H., the deduction date is expected to be in mid-March, with the exact date to be determined based on moon sightings.

Zakat Rate 2024

A notification regarding the Nisab rate has been sent to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Zakat Collection Control Agencies. The Administrator General Zakat has officially announced the Nisab for the Zakat year 1444–45 A.H. at Rs. 135,179.

According to the notification, no Zakat deduction at the source will occur if the balance in an account, concerning the assets listed in column 2 of Serial No. 1 of the first schedule of Zakat and Ushr Ordinance 1980, is less than Rs 135,179 on the initial day of Ramadan.

The notification stated that Zakat Collection Controlling Agencies (ZCCAs) will deduct Zakat as necessary and are required to furnish a copy of the Form to the Ministry after depositing Zakat into the Central Zakat Account No. CZ-08 with the State Bank.
