ISLAMABAD: Nepra has issued a directive regarding power outages during exams and instructed Karachi Electric (KE) and all distribution companies (DISCO) to refrain from carrying out power cuts during exam periods.
It came to the notice of Nepra through various channels including print media, electronic media and complaints have also been received that Discos are observing loadshedding at examination centres, Nepra said.
Nepra observed that power outages are hindering the smooth conduct of examinations and creating serious problems for student in sweltering climate, adding that all Discos are bound to provide uninterrupted electric power to their eligible customers.
The power regulator said that any hindrance could affect the students’ performance and progress and all Discos are directed to review the timings of loadshedding particularly the period when examinations take place.
It is imperative that consumers must be catered uninterrupted power supply and no loadshedding would be carried out during the exam sessions, Nepra said, adding that the smooth conduct of exams and welfare of students must be ensured.
Nepra warned the Discos of stern action if instructions were not implemented.
