Punjab Experience Heatwave with Temperatures 6-8°C Above Normal

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts hot and dry weather for Lahore and much of Punjab from Wednesday night through Friday.

A usual continental air mass covers most of Pakistan, along with a shallow westerly wave affecting the upper and western regions. Consequently, Wednesday night is expected to see mainly hot and dry conditions across most districts of the province. On Thursday and Friday, hot and dry weather is anticipated across most areas, with central and southern districts experiencing particularly extreme heat.

Additionally, isolated instances of partly cloudy weather with rain, wind, or thunderstorms are possible in various areas during the afternoon and evening, including Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, and others. Furthermore, partly cloudy weather with rain, wind, or thunderstorms may occur in Murree, Galyat, and surrounding regions during the evening and night.

In Lahore, maximum temperatures are forecasted to range between 40-42°C on Thursday and 41-43°C on Friday. Over the past 24 hours, Lahore and most districts of the province experienced hot and dry weather, with a persistent heatwave observed in central and southern areas.

Dera Ghazi Khan recorded the highest temperature in Punjab at 46°C, with a relative humidity of 19% in the evening, while Lahore saw a maximum temperature of 42°C and a relative humidity of 33% in the evening.
