The Federal Government of Pakistan has announced the holiday schedule for Eid al-Adha, with celebrations occurring from June 17th to June 19th, 2024. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif approved the holiday dates following a proposal from the Cabinet Division, which sent a formal request to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Eid al-Adha, a major religious festival for Muslims, will start on Monday, June 17th. This festival honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God, and is a time for community, charity, and reflection.
The holiday schedule varies by sector:
- Institutions with a regular Sunday holiday will have a four-day break, including the weekend.
- Places where both Saturday and Sunday are holidays will enjoy a five-day break.
These holidays offer a chance for families to gather, businesses to plan around a short pause, and individuals to celebrate and reflect, whether through travel, family gatherings, or rest.
