As the festive season of Eid-ul-Adha 2024 approaches, the cattle market at Northern Bypass in Karachi is bustling with activity. Shoppers have noticed a decrease in the prices of sacrificial animals, now about five percent lower than the initial rates.
Reports show that the market, located at Taiser Town Northern Bypass, has been operational since May 10, 2024, and has already sold over 80,000 animals. The market’s vast size and variety have left a strong impression on visitors, including a tourist family from Poland.
To ensure a smooth shopping experience, authorities have provided various facilities for buyers and traders, including food courts, ATMs, and designated parking zones. Enhanced security measures, including police pickets, have been implemented to ensure safety.
Last year, during the Eid-ul-Azha season, the Karachi Northern Bypass cattle market experienced tremendous success, generating an impressive Rs8 billion. Previously located in the Sohrab Goth area, the market has been relocated to the Northern Bypass in District West. In 2023, the market featured approximately 700,000 sacrificial animals, with 600,000 of them being sold, setting a new sales record.
