The Lahore High Court has mandated revisions to Immigration Department regulations, ensuring women can retain their father’s name on national identity cards and passports.

Justice Asim Hafeez’s order demands amendments within three months, responding to Meher Bano Langriyal’s petition advocating for married women’s right to their father’s name inclusion.

Current rules often force married women to adopt their husbands’ names, hindering those who prefer paternal lineage representation.
