Mehmood-ur-Rasheed shifted to hospital due to stomach pain
LAHORE: Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, currently imprisoned, was shifted to the Services Hospital due to severe stomach pain.
Medical tests, including an abdominal CT scan, revealed he has appendicitis. His appendix surgery is scheduled to be conducted by Prof. Yaseen Rafi, head of Surgical Unit 3, on Monday. Further blood tests and reports are anticipated by either the evening or the next morning.
Mehmood-ur-Rasheed has been detained following the violent protests and rampage by PTI leaders and workers on May 9, which erupted in response to the arrest of their party chief, Imran Khan.
Earlier on June 1, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demanded Hamoodur Rahman Commission (HRC) Report to be made public amid growing criticism from the government.
This demand was articulated in a statement following a PTI Core Committee meeting. The party also rejected the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) investigation into a controversial post about Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Imran Khan’s X (formerly Twitter) account.
The PTI discussed Imran Khan’s post from May 26 and the accompanying video from various perspectives. They asserted that making the HRC report public is essential to addressing serious internal challenges facing Pakistan. Additionally, the party condemned the FIA’s potential move to register new cases against Imran Khan under the guise of ongoing investigations.
The PTI reaffirmed its respect for the Pakistan Army’s role in national security, emphasizing that it has never criticized the institution within the scope of the Constitution and law. The party also called for an impartial judicial commission to investigate the incidents of May 9, particularly seeking clarity on who ordered Imran Khan’s arrest from the high court on that day.
