Islamabad court dismisses FIA case against Sanam Javed
ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad district and sessions court on Sunday dismissed the case against PTI activist Sanam Javed, which was based on her tweets on the social media platform X.
Duty Magistrate Malik Imran delivered the reserved verdict regarding Sanam Javed’s remand and accepted the request from her lawyers to exclude her from the case.
Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had discharged Sanam Javed from a case in Gujranwala. A two-member bench, led by Justice Asjad Javed Gharal, heard her petition on Wednesday.
In her plea, Sanam Javed challenged the physical remand issued by the Gujranwala Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), arguing that she was being unfairly targeted in politically motivated cases.
She claimed that she was repeatedly arrested in new cases immediately after being released from others, asserting that the ongoing legal actions against her were politically driven and requested the court to dismiss the case.
The public prosecutor argued that Sanam Javed was implicated based on statements linking her to incidents of arson on May 9, which are under investigation. Despite these claims, the court ruled in favor of Sanam Javed and discharged her from the Gujranwala case.
