Karachi to get break from heat with light showers today
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has updated its forecast, indicating that light showers and a drizzle are likely to occur later today, following their previous day’s announcement of a temperature rise.
The Met Office anticipates the onset of a fresh monsoon phase impacting Sindh and its capital from July 18 or 19.
Despite some sporadic rainfall earlier in the week, Karachi’s citizens have continued to endure the heat without much relief.
A sea breeze at 18 km/h is expected to keep the day’s peak temperatures between 34°C and 36°C.
The city’s lowest temperature recently recorded was 30.5°C.
While a heatwave has been dismissed, the PMD expects a temperature increase in the coming days, with highs potentially reaching 37°C to 38°C.
This aligns with climate specialist Jawad Memon’s prediction that Karachi’s temperatures may rise by as much as 3°C starting Monday.
