Marwat’s basic membership suspended on PTI Founder’s directive
ISLAMABAD: Following directives from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, the party has suspended Sher Afzal Marwat’s basic membership due to ‘violation’ of discipline and policies.
Marwat’s suspension came after he failed to address the concerns raised in show-cause notices issued to him. An inquiry committee was formed under the authorization of the PTI founder to take action against those violating party policy.
A notification from PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub stated that Marwat was suspended for repeatedly breaching party discipline and making damaging statements against the leadership.
Marwat’s actions reportedly harmed the party and its leadership, and he was unable to provide satisfactory explanations for his behavior.
The notification also mentioned that Marwat ignored instructions from the PTI founder, violated party discipline, and continued to criticize the party leadership on social media and in public. His statements were considered false and damaging to the party, including baseless allegations against PTI.
Previously, PTI had issued a show-cause notice to Marwat for his irresponsible statements. The notice, issued by Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan, demanded Marwat to explain his statements within three days, as they were deemed harmful to the party’s reputation.
The notice emphasized that such statements contravene the party’s discipline and the clear instructions of founder Imran Khan, who stressed the importance of responsible behavior.
Marwat was warned that failure to respond or provide a satisfactory explanation could lead to further disciplinary action.
