According to details, this has led to higher prices for sugar, cooking oil, and ghee, as the budget proposal took effect on July 1, 2024, after being approved by Parliament.
In the local market, the price of a 50 kg bag of sugar rose by Rs250 to Rs6,950, and the price of a packet of ghee went up by Rs300.

Additionally, the prices of flour, dry milk, packed milk, and other commodities were also recorded to have increased following the budget for the financial year 2024-25.
Meanwhile, the Flour Mills Association has initiated a protest against the implementation of the Withholding Tax. Flour mills in various cities are closed due to these protests, with owners demanding that the government reverse the decision.
