RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed a terrorist commander, Irfan Ullah aka Adnan, in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bajaur District, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.

The statement noted that on July 3, 2024, security forces carried out an IBO in Bajaur District based on reports of the presence of a high-profile terrorist. During the operation, the terrorist commander was killed after an intense exchange of fire.

The ISPR detailed that the slain terrorist was actively involved in numerous attacks against security forces, as well as in extortion and targeted killings of innocent civilians.

He was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies. The local population appreciated the operation and expressed full support for the security forces’ efforts to eliminate terrorism.

Earlier, on Monday, security forces conducted two IBOs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), resulting in the deaths of nine terrorists. In an operation in the Tirah area of KP, security forces killed seven terrorists, including two wanted individuals: Najeeb alias Abdur Rehman and Ashfaq aka Muavia. These terrorists were involved in various attacks against security forces, and weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from them.

In a separate IBO in Lakki Marwat, two more terrorists were killed. The ISPR added that sanitization of the areas is ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists, emphasizing that Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eradicate terrorism from the country.
