KARACHI: 49 people including 25 children, 15 men and nine women were killed and 69 others injured in rain-related incident in Sindh from June 1 to August 28, said the Provincial Management Disaster Authority (PMDA) Sindh.

The PMDA said that 20 people died due to lightning, eight roof collapses, seven house collapses, six drowning in water, four wall collapses, two electrocutions and two tree falls.

Most casuality took place in Tharparkar. Whereas 35 men, 20 children and 14 women were the injured.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said that heavy rain in the city will continue till August 31.

He added that the system is 250km away from Karachi. A rain system is still in place near Badin and Tharparkar. 150 to 200mm rain may occur in the city.

Gulshan Hadid has received 122 mm of rain. The intensity of rain will increase from Thursday evening. Rain will continue till August 31.
