Public holiday announced on August 20 in Sindh

Sindh government has announced August 20 as a public holiday on the event of Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai for all offices, autonomous, and semi-autonomous bodies, and corporations.

A announcement issued by Sindh authorities said there will be a public holiday on August 20 (Tuesday) during Urs of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

It said all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils in Sindh will be closed on Tuesday.

Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai was a famous Sufi poet and saint from Sindh. Bhittai’s influential poetry, gathered in Shah Jo Risalo, travels spiritual refrains and local folktale.

He is renowned for his contributions to Sindhi literature and religion, his Urs, marking his death, is a major event at his shrine in Bhit Shah, appealing numerous devotees. His work remains a substantial cultural and spiritual impact in the region.
