Monal restaurant location set to feature new Margalla viewpoint
Following the Supreme Court’s directives, the Wildlife Management Board has commenced the demolition of the iconic Monal Restaurant, situated in Margalla Hills National Park. Heavy machinery was deployed, resulting in a large portion of the restaurant being demolished in just one day.
Established in 2006, the Monal Restaurant has been a favored destination for visitors to the Margalla Hills, but its 18-year tenure has now concluded. The Wildlife Management Board indicated that this action is part of efforts to safeguard the wildlife and natural environment in the park, which have suffered due to human activities in the area.
Omar Bilal, a spokesperson for the Wildlife Management Board, stated that the site will be transformed for conservation and educational purposes.
Margalla Viewpoint
“A survey will be conducted, followed by the design of a new Margalla Viewpoint. An information center will also be built here, where students from special universities can conduct research on wildlife and the environment,” he said.
Wildlife officials emphasized that the goal is to restore the Margalla Hills to their original, natural state to ensure the protection of local wildlife.
