New Machine Readable Passport fee in Pakistan – October 2025 Update
A passport is a fundamental requirement for travelling abroad, as passengers cannot board international flights without this valid document. In Pakistan, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is responsible for issuing passports after verifying the applicant’s documents and collecting a fee.
A Pakistani citizen holding a valid passport is entitled to protection from Pakistani diplomatic and consular representatives while abroad. Additionally, the passport serves as the only official document that verifies the identity of the citizen in foreign countries and grants the right to enter or exit Pakistan.
Citizens can apply for a new passport by visiting any nearby passport office to submit their application.
There have been no changes in passport fees as of September 2024. For a 36-page passport with a 5-year validity, the normal fee is Rs 4,500, and the urgent fee is Rs 7,500. For a 10-year passport, the fees are Rs 6,700 (normal) and Rs 11,200 (urgent).
For a 72-page passport with a 5-year validity, the normal fee is Rs 8,200, while urgent processing costs Rs 13,500. For a 100-page passport valid for 10 years, the fees are Rs 12,400 (normal) and Rs 20,200 (urgent).
