ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Ata Tarar has called for a swift resolution of the cases related to the May 9 attacks.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Minister Tarar stated that there is undeniable evidence linking a political party to the orchestrated May 9 attacks. He further revealed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) officials were given specific instructions regarding the attacks on that day.

Minister Tarar emphasized that PTI had targeted sensitive installations, desecrated martyrs’ memorials, and there are videos of PTI leaders involved in the attacks. Additionally, PTI had written letters to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) against Pakistan’s interests.

He also stated that PTI had carried out these attacks to satisfy their ego, with new evidence now surfacing related to May 9. Tarar mentioned that the perpetrators were peacefully restrained, but their aim was to cause fatalities, describing the attacks as the work of the “khawarij” (traitors).

He questioned whether prominent PTI leaders like Yasmin Rashid, Usman Dar, and Shehryar Afridi were not involved, highlighting audio recordings where Shehryar Afridi can be heard mentioning plans to attack the General Headquarters (GHQ). Yasmin Rashid was also recorded saying they aimed to attack the Jinnah House.
