The ongoing smog and fog in Punjab, KP, and other regions of Pakistan have severely disrupted train operations, causing significant inconvenience for travelers. Railway officials have noted that dense fog and smog in various cities are affecting train schedules.

Additionally, travelers were informed that the Khyber Mail, scheduled to arrive at Karachi Cantt Station by 10 PM, eventually reached at 5 AM the following day. Many passengers expressed frustration over the lack of timely updates about train schedules.

Passengers have voiced their discontent, as railway officials are reportedly refusing ticket refunds, advising customers to discard their tickets instead.

Earlier today, the Punjab transport department issued new guidelines in response to the severe smog conditions in most parts of the province.

In compliance with court directives, the mass transit and transport department has developed a new strategy to address the escalating smog threat.

According to the department’s instructions, light transport vehicles (LTVs) emitting smoke will be fined two thousand rupees for the first offense and four thousand for repeat violations.

Furthermore, strict penalties will apply to buses and trucks with high smoke emissions. Until heavy transport vehicles, including buses and trucks, meet emission standards, they are required to remain parked. A report on actions taken against these vehicles must be submitted daily and weekly.

Additionally, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and other relevant authorities are instructed to launch a public awareness campaign to inform the public about the causes and harmful effects of smog.
