A man was robbed of 55 lacs in a swift nine-second incident captured on CCTV, where two armed robbers on a motorcycle snatched his bag full of cash.

The footage showed the suspects approaching the victim, Rashid, who had just exited his car in the Quaidabad area. One of the robbers brandished a weapon while the other grabbed the bag. The robbery occurred as Rashid was on his way to deposit the money at a bank, with the culprits escaping without resistance.

This alarming incident highlights the increasing prevalence of street crimes in Karachi, leaving citizens frustrated with the government’s inability to ensure their safety.

Just weeks earlier, on November 6, a man named Muhammad Saeed was shot dead during a robbery attempt on Defense’s 26th Street. Saeed, who had recently withdrawn cash, was targeted by motorcyclists. His decision to resist led the robbers to fire several shots before fleeing.

In another case, two private security guards and their accomplices looted Rs5.1 million from a bank’s cash vault in Karachi’s SITE area. According to the police, the heist occurred late at night when the guards broke into the bank.

Karachi has witnessed a troubling surge in street crime, with at least 105 people falling victim to such incidents this year alone.
