Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the formation of a negotiation committee to address proposals regarding the National Assembly.

The committee comprises members from the ruling coalition, including Senator Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Abdul Aleem Khan, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Sardar Khalid Magsi.

The decision follows a request from PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, who urged the Speaker of the National Assembly to mediate and initiate dialogue.

Barrister Gohar emphasized the importance of resolving political differences through peaceful discussions, highlighting the need to prioritize national security and the country’s best interests.

Prime Minister Shehbaz lauded the Speaker’s mediatory efforts and called for unity among all political factions. He reiterated, “Pakistan belongs to all of us, and we must put the nation’s interests above all else.”

The committee’s formation aims to foster constructive dialogue and resolve ongoing political tensions, ensuring that the country’s stability and progress remain the top priorities. Both sides have expressed hope for meaningful discussions to address key national issues.

Earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif has instructed authorities to take strict action against tax defaulters and ensure they are brought into the tax net.

Presiding over a key review meeting on strategies to enhance revenue collection, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of using technology to boost the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) performance.

Officials briefed him on the deployment and monitoring of video analytics in the sugar industry. Highlighting its benefits, the Prime Minister stated that integrating video analytics would enhance revenue collection, prevent hoarding, and stabilize sugar prices.

He stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring sugar is available to the public at affordable rates and directed consistent monitoring of sugar stocks to maintain a steady supply chain.

PM Shehbaz also ordered strict measures against tax evasion and under-reporting by sugar mills. He noted that the FBR’s ongoing digitization efforts are expected to generate billions of rupees for the national treasury.
