
Four killed, 32 injured as blast rocks Turbat
At least four people were killed while 32 others sustained injuries after a blast rocked Balochistan’s city of Turbat on Saturday.
Law enforcement officials reported that five of those injured in the blast are in critical condition, though the exact nature of the explosion has yet to be determined.
According to sources, in CCTV its shown that several vehicles moving along the road when a sudden and massive flame engulfed a passenger bus following the explosion.
Police confirmed that Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zohaib Mohsin, from the Serious Crime Wing, was among those injured in the blast. Six members of his family also sustained injuries as they were passing through the area at the time of the incident.
Last month, a similar tragedy unfolded in the Dasht area of Turbat, where a blast claimed two lives and injured four others. Police stated that the explosion, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), also damaged a vehicle.
According to the Annual Security Report by the Center for Research and Security Studies, Balochistan recorded 782 fatalities out of Pakistan’s total of 2,546 deaths in 2024.
The surge in terrorist attacks has been linked to the return of the Taliban regime in neighboring Afghanistan, highlighting a troubling regional security dynamic.
