PTI-govt talks: Fourth round scheduled for Jan 28
The third round of negotiations between PTI and the government is expected to take place on January 15, Wednesday, following a potential meeting between PTI leaders and PTI founder at Adiala Jail.
Sources indicate that the delay in the talks has been blamed on both sides, with the PTI team citing their inability to meet with PTI founder as a major obstacle before further discussions.
On Saturday, Speaker Sadiq held a phone call with NA Leader of Opposition Omar Ayub and former NA Speaker Asad Qaiser, following a text from Ayub. During the conversation, the PTI negotiators expressed frustration over not being allowed to meet party PTI founder, stressing the importance of such a meeting before resuming talks with the government.
In response, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq maintained that arranging such meetings was not his responsibility but promised to try to facilitate one. Later, he reached out to the government to arrange a meeting between the PTI negotiation team and PTI founder at the jail.
Sources suggest that the meeting will likely take place soon, paving the way for the third round of talks on Wednesday, during which the PTI team is expected to present its written demands.
