The Balochistan Education Department has officially banned all political activities in educational institutions across the province, acting on directives from the Balochistan High Court.

A notification issued by the department confirmed that the ban is in compliance with the court’s orders and applies to all schools, colleges, and universities in the province.

The notification also warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against the heads of institutions found violating the directive.

The decision follows a court ruling on a constitutional petition filed by Advocate Shabbir Ahmed. The College, Higher, and Technical Education Department highlighted that the court expressed concern over the increasing involvement of students in political activities, deeming it harmful to the country’s future.

Political parties in Balochistan are expected to oppose the ban, which may lead to legal challenges. However, no official response from any political party has been reported so far.

The court ruling states: “No permission in this behalf shall be granted for political gatherings and activities within the premises of educational institutions, and the same shall be completely banned till further orders.”

Institution heads have been instructed to strictly adhere to the court’s directives, with violations subject to disciplinary action under the Balochistan Employees’ Efficiency and Discipline Act (BEEDA) 2011.

The advocate general of Balochistan communicated the decision to the education department, stressing its swift enforcement to ensure educational institutions remain focused on academic pursuits.
