
Libya Boat Tragedy: 16 Pakistanis many from Kurram confirmed dead
A devastating boat accident off the coast of Libya has claimed the lives of at least 16 Pakistani nationals, with several others still unaccounted for.
The Embassy of Pakistan in Tripoli confirmed the recovery of 16 bodies, identified through their Pakistani passports, while search efforts continue for the missing individuals, according to a statement from the Foreign Office Spokesperson.
As per unverified reports, a total of 63 Pakistani nationals were on board the ill-fated vessel. So far, 37 survivors have been identified, including one individual receiving medical treatment at a local hospital and 33 currently in police custody.
Approximately 10 Pakistanis are still reported missing following the incident. Three of the survivors are in Tripoli, where they are being assisted by the Pakistani Embassy.
The following Pakistani nationals have been officially confirmed as deceased in the tragedy.

Abid Hussain s/o Imran Ali – district Kurram
Asif Ali s/o Israr Hussain – district Kurram
Muhammad Ali Shah s/o Abdullah Shah – district Orakzai, KPK
Musawir Hussain s/o Sher Mehdi – district Kurram
Aswar Hussain s/o Mandar Ali – district Kurram
Abid Hussain s/o Muhammad Hassan – district Kurram
Anis Khan s/o Musharaf Khan – district Peshawar
Ashfaq Hussain s/o Hussain Afzal – district Kurram
and Shahid Hussain s/o Kafiat Hussain – district Kurram.
The Embassy of Pakistan in Tripoli is actively working with local authorities in Zawiya, the site of the incident.
Embassy officials have visited Zawiya Hospital and other relevant institutions to collect information and offer necessary support to the survivors.
Efforts are ongoing to gather additional details, with the Embassy maintaining close coordination with local authorities.
