
PM Shehbaz and Abu Dhabi crown prince vow to strengthen bilateral ties
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday, reaffirming the UAE’s strong commitment to Pakistan’s economic development and prosperity.
This marked His Highness’s first official visit to Pakistan as Crown Prince. The prime minister extended a warm welcome, emphasizing Pakistan’s determination to further strengthen historic and fraternal ties with the UAE. Their one-on-one meeting was followed by delegation-level talks.
Recalling his recent meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the growing collaboration between the two nations. He highlighted efforts to transform their long-standing political ties into a mutually beneficial economic partnership.
The prime minister also briefed the Crown Prince on the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Line project, which was recently discussed during his visit to Uzbekistan. He stated that Uzbekistan has shown keen interest in the initiative, adding that it would benefit Gwadar and Abu Dhabi ports, proving to be a game changer for regional connectivity.
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed, accompanied by senior officials and business leaders, thanked the prime minister for the warm reception.
During the visit, both leaders witnessed the signing of multiple MoUs and agreements in key sectors, including banking, mining, infrastructure development, and railways, further solidifying economic cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE.
