Prime Minister says scope of digital wallets to be expanded across country
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the government is implementing measures to transition the economy to a cashless system while reforming the FBR.
He made these remarks while speaking to a delegation of the Pakistan Retail Business Council in Islamabad on Friday.
Shehbaz Sharif ordered the formation of a committee to resolve retailers’ issues and assured that retailers already in the tax net would not face any additional tax burden.
He emphasized that the government is prioritizing efforts to bring all tax-evading retailers into the tax net.
The Prime Minister stated that the government is intensifying efforts to curb smuggling disguised as used goods.
He encouraged local industries to adopt innovation and modern technology to boost exports and compete in the international market.
The delegation praised the government for achieving economic stability. The participants described the government’s reforms as encouraging and expressed confidence that they would have a far-reaching impact on the economy.
The delegation stated that incorporating retailers into the tax net would boost revenue. They also appreciated the government’s efforts to resolve the issues faced by retailers already in the tax net.
