
Weather update: Rain, hailstorms, thunderstorms predicted till May 5
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a new spell of rain across the country starting Monday (tomorrow).
According to the PMD, a strong westerly weather system will enter western Pakistan on the evening or night of February 24, reaching upper regions by February 25 and persisting in northern areas until March 2.
The upcoming weather system will bring rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in various parts of the country. Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in Murree, Galliyat, and nearby areas from February 25 to March 1. Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum will also experience rain and thunderstorms during this period.
Other cities, including Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Toba Tek Singh, are expected to receive rain from the evening or night of February 25 until February 28.
Additionally, rainfall is predicted in Jhang, Bhakkar, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur between February 25 and 27.
The PMD has warned that heavy rain could lead to flash floods in vulnerable areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir from February 25 to March 1. Meanwhile, landslides may occur in mountainous regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, and Galliyat.
Some plains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Islamabad may also witness hailstorms during this period.
