
President Zardari mourns the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan
BEIJING: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan, calling it a tremendous loss for Pakistan and the world.
In a statement issued during his official visit to China, President Zardari highlighted Prince Karim Aga Khan’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s social sector, particularly in health, education, and community development.
“The invaluable services of Prince Karim Aga Khan for humanity will always be remembered”, President Secretariat Press Wing, in a press release, quoted the president as saying.
President Zardari emphasized that Prince Karim Aga Khan played a pivotal role in transforming the educational landscape of Gilgit-Baltistan by introducing world-class education standards. He also noted that during his visits to Pakistan, the late spiritual leader demonstrated deep affection for its people and launched numerous developmental projects that continue to serve as a lasting source of benefit and inspiration.
“His initiatives are a true Sadaqah Jariyah — ongoing charity”, the president remarked.
Extending his heartfelt condolences to the Aga Khan family and the global Ismaili community, President Zardari expressed hope that the new spiritual leader would continue Prince Karim Aga Khan’s legacy of service and humanitarian efforts.
