The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with zonal committees, will meet on the evening of Sunday, March 30, 2025 (Ramazan 29, 1446 A.H.), to observe the Shawwal moon, which will determine the conclusion of Ramadan and the date for Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan.
The meeting will take place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, where religious scholars, meteorological experts, and other officials will assess moon sighting reports from across the country.
The Islamic calendar months, including Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Muharram, are traditionally determined based on the sighting of the new moon.
The Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) had earlier used scientific analysis, astronomical calculations, and observational data to predict the visibility of the Ramadan and Shawwal crescents.
According to these forecasts, the Shawwal moon is expected to be visible on March 30, suggesting that Eid-ul-Fitr will likely fall on March 31, 2025.
Since moon sighting by the naked eye is a religious requirement, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will verify testimonies from different parts of the country before making an official announcement regarding the end of Ramadan.
