Many parts of Pakistan are dealing with very hot weather, and now the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that Karachi may face a heatwave starting from April 20.

The temperature in the city is expected to rise between April 20 and April 24. Meanwhile, some areas in Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab could continue to experience heatwave conditions until April 18.

In cities like Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Larkana, temperatures may go 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal. The PMD also said strong winds might hit Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Hyderabad. Karachi is expected to stay hot and humid over the next three days.

Last week, PMD spokesperson Anjum Nazir mentioned that Karachi could face a heatwave by the end of the month. He also said that from April to June, the weather is likely to stay hotter than usual, especially in South Punjab and parts of Sindh.

Because of the intense heat, dust storms and windstorms might occur, which could damage things like electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels. People, especially children, women, and the elderly, are advised to stay out of the sun and drink plenty of water.

On a brighter note, the weather may improve in other parts of the country. A westerly wind system is expected to bring rain and hail to northern areas starting this evening and continuing until April 20.
