ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning indicating that most plain areas of the country will remain under the influence of a severe heatwave for the next four days.

According to the PMD, from today until May 24, daytime temperatures in Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.

Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during peak hours.

Forecasters predict a significant rise in temperatures. From today until May 24th day temperatures in Sindh, South Punjab, and Baluchistan are expected to climb by at least 4C to 6C degrees Celsius above seasonal averages.

Other regions including Central and Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, will also see an intense increase with temperatures rising by at least 5C to 7C degrees Celsius.

The intensity of the heat was evident yesterday as Dadu and Jacobabad recorded a blistering 48 degrees Celsius, marking the highest temperatures in the country.

Other areas also witnessed extreme heat. Larkana and Rohri registered 46 degrees Celsius matching Sibi’s temperature.

Peshawar reached 43 degrees Celsius, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Muzaffarabad all experienced 41 degrees. Islamabad recorded 39 degrees, Quetta 36 degrees, Karachi 35 degrees, and Gilgit 34 degrees Celsius.
