BAJAUR: A blast targeting Assistant Commissioner Nawagai Faisal Ismail’s vehicle killed at least five people in Bajaur, KP, a News source reported on Wednesday.

Police confirmed that the powerful explosion occurred near the Phatak Mela area, killing five individuals and injuring several others.

Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Shahid Ali Khan stated that the blast occurred near Mela Ground in the Phatak Mela area, where a remote-controlled explosive targeted a government vehicle.

The blast killed Tehsildar Abdul Wakeel, two police officers, and a bystander. It also injured 11 individuals, including five police personnel, who rescue teams transported to nearby medical centers for treatment. So far, no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that attackers specifically targeted the assistant commissioner’s vehicle in the blast. While authorities have yet to officially determine the nature of the explosive device, initial reports suggest that it was a planted bomb.

The District Police Officer (DPO) stated that the explosion caused significant casualties. Rescue teams quickly reached the scene and transferred the injured to nearby medical facilities in Bajaur. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.

Last month, a rocket attack partially damaged the house of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) and Member of the National Assembly Mubarak Zeb Khan in Bajaur. Law enforcement agencies quickly arrived at the scene after receiving the report and launched an investigation. Fortunately, the attack caused no casualties.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif strongly condemned the rocket attack on the residence of Member of the National Assembly Mubarak Zeb Khan in Bajaur.

According to a spokesperson, the Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the incident and thanked Almighty Allah that the attack caused no loss of life.
