UAE Increases Petrol and Diesel Prices for October 2025
ISLAMABAD: In a much-needed economic breather after the 2025-26 budget, the federal government is likely to announce a significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices starting August 1, 2025.
According to sources, petrol prices could drop by Rs9 to Rs10 per litre, bringing the new rate down to approximately Rs262–263. Diesel is also expected to see a Rs3 to Rs4 reduction, taking it from Rs284.35 to around Rs280 per litre.
This welcome relief comes after widespread criticism over the July 15 price hike, when the government raised petrol by Rs5.36 and diesel by Rs11.37 per litre, frustrating consumers and transporters alike.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will present its official summary to the Petroleum Division on July 31, and the final approval will come from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is expected to give the green light the same evening.
If implemented, the new prices will go into effect at midnight, offering immediate relief to millions of Pakistanis, particularly daily commuters, transport businesses, and industries grappling with inflation.
This move is seen as an attempt to restore public confidence and ease inflationary pressure ahead of a critical economic quarter.
