Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on humanitarian aid convoys in Gaza during his presidential address at the United Nations Security Council’s quarterly debate in New York.

Chairing the debate on the “Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question,” Dar called the strikes on hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and UN facilities a “deliberate and well-thought-out operation” aimed at collectively punishing the Palestinian people.

In his address, he stressed that these actions blatantly violated numerous UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions. He warned that the ongoing conflict poses a serious threat to the UN’s credibility and global standing. “If the Palestinian issue remains unresolved, it could cause irreparable damage to the United Nations’ reputation,” he added.

Dar urged the international community to push for an immediate ceasefire and ensure unimpeded access to humanitarian aid in Gaza. He also emphasized the urgent need to address other regional conflicts, including those in Syria, Lebanon, and Iran, to establish lasting peace in the Middle East.

“The time has come to give the Palestinian people their right to justice, freedom, dignity, and a sovereign state,” he concluded.

The Foreign Office also released a statement on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting that Pakistan had successfully upgraded the debate to the ministerial level during its presidency of the Security Council.
