KPK senate elections, Unofficial result announced
Unofficial results have started to come in from the Senate elections held for 11 seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
According to preliminary results, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has won 4 general seats, while the opposition alliance has secured 3 general seats.
Among PTI winners, Murad Saeed surprised many by securing 26 votes. Other PTI winners include Mirza Muhammad Afridi (22 votes), Faisal Javed (21 votes), and Noor-ul-Haq Qadri (21 votes).
From the opposition side, JUI’s Atta-ul-Haq Darwish (18 votes), Talha Mehmood (17 votes), and Niaz Ahmed (18 votes) were successful.
For technocrat seats, PTI’s Azam Swati won with 89 votes, while Dilawar Khan, backed by PML-N and JUI, won the second seat with 54 votes.
On women’s reserved seats, PTI’s Rubina Naz secured 89 votes, and PPP’s Rubina Khalid won the second seat with 52 votes. Two votes in this category were rejected.
The Election Commission reported that a total of 25 candidates were contesting – 16 for general seats, 5 for technocrats, and 4 for women’s seats. Some withdrew before the deadline, but their names remained on the ballot papers. Names of candidates who withdrew after 12 PM Sunday were stamped as “Retired.”
Some PTI dissenters like Khuram Zeeshan did not withdraw their nominations, while names of others like Irfan Saleem, Waqas Orakzai, and Ayesha Bano were still listed despite pulling out.
