Widespread rain alert issued for next 48 hours

In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, heavy showers occurred early in the morning, with Saidapur Village recording the highest rainfall of 131 millimeters.

According to WASA, water levels in Nulla Lai reached 15 feet at Katarian and 10 feet in Gwalmandi, leading to severe flooding.

In Kahuta, rain caused water to enter homes and shops; additionally, the collapse of a thatched roof of (unplastered) house resulted in the death of a 2-year-old girl and injuries to three women.

Meanwhile, different areas of Lahore, Gujrat, and Azad Kashmir also experienced rainfall. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains for today and tomorrow in Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Kashmir, and has issued an alert.

There is a risk of flooding in rivers and streams, as well as landslides in mountainous regions.

In Balochistan, heavy rains in the Muslim Bagh area of Qilla Saifullah district caused the roofs of dozens of houses to collapse and over 100 electricity towers to fall.

The communication infrastructure has been severely affected, with damage reported to WAPDA colonies, grid stations, and KESCO offices.
