Internet services restored across Pakistan after disruptions caused by rains
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has confirmed that internet services have been restored across the country after facing major disruptions caused by heavy rains.
A PTCL spokesperson said that connectivity, which had been affected since Tuesday evening, is now back to normal nationwide.
The disruption had left users in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and other cities struggling with slow browsing speeds, service outages, and difficulties in using essential online platforms. Both individuals and businesses relying on digital communication and remote work faced significant problems.
IT and Telecom Minister Shaza Fatima acknowledged the situation, assuring that technical teams are working to identify the root cause. “We will inform the public as soon as the reasons are identified and solutions are given,” she said.
The outage during severe weather has sparked concerns about the resilience of Pakistan’s IT infrastructure, particularly since many people rely on the internet for work, education, communication with family abroad, and e-commerce.
