Karachi Once Again at Risk of Urban Flooding
NDMA warns of urban flooding as heavy rains are forecast for Karachi between August 30 and September 2.
Coastal districts of Sindh including Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and Tharparkar are expected to receive rain between August 30 and September 2, with the possibility of urban flooding in Karachi.
Interior Sindh districts such as Hyderabad, Dadu, Sukkur, Ghotki, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Kashmore may experience heavy rainfall from August 30 to September 1.
Rain is forecast from August 29 to September 1 in Gwadar, Kech, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Lasbela, and Kalat, posing flood risks to low-lying areas.
The PMD warns of intensified flooding in areas along the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers due to additional rainfall. Mountainous areas face an increased threat of landslides.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is closely monitoring rescue and relief operations, with all relevant agencies instructed to ensure preparedness. Residents are urged to stay cautious, follow safety advisories, and avoid unnecessary travel to northern regions during this period.
In case of emergencies, citizens are advised to immediately contact local administration and rescue officials. Tourists are strongly cautioned against traveling to northern areas due to the risk of landslides and road blockages.
