More monsoon rains predicted across Punjab

Weather update: Scattered rains expected across Pakistan

Rain of different intensities is expected in Lahore and several parts of Punjab starting Monday night and continuing for the next two days, with some breaks in between.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says that a seasonal low pressure is present over north Balochistan. Monsoon winds are entering the upper and central areas of Pakistan, and a westerly wave is also affecting the northern regions.

Because of these weather conditions, rain and gusty winds are likely on Monday night in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, and Khushab. Other parts of the province are expected to experience humid weather.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, off-and-on rain and gusty winds are expected in many cities including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Dera Ghazi Khan.

In Lahore, the highest temperature on Tuesday and Wednesday is expected to stay between 36°C and 38°C, while on Thursday it may range between 35°C and 37°C.

In the past 24 hours, rain fell at a few places in upper Punjab, while the rest of the province had hot and humid weather.

Rainfall measurements in millimeters were recorded as follows: Rawalpindi (New Kattarian 68, Shamsabad 31, Chaklala 22, Pirwadhai 19, Katcheri 17, Gawalmandi 14), Sialkot (Airport 50 and City 21), Mangla 25, Islamabad (Airport 20, City 13, Saidpur 1), Gujrat 12, Narowal 6, and Jhelum 1.

In Lahore, the highest temperature recorded was 37°C, and the humidity in the evening was 53 percent.
