Security forces thwart cross-border infiltration in Balochistan; 47 terrorists killed
Security forces thwarted an attempted infiltration by militants from across the Afghan border into the Sambaza area of Balochistan, killing 47 insurgents.
According to the security sources, that incident took place between August 7 and 9, when militants from the banned group known as Khawarij tried to enter Pakistani territory. Security forces acted quickly and stopped the infiltration, killing a large number of militants.
Most of the bodies fell on the Afghan side of the border, but for fifteen days no Afghan officials or associates of the militants came to collect them. The bodies remained exposed in Afghan territory, where they decomposed.
On August 25, after a meeting between Pakistani and Afghan authorities at the border, the bodies were taken into Afghanistan using donkeys.
Officials called the operation a major success, saying the militant group was eliminated before it could carry out any attacks. Security forces also vowed to protect Pakistan’s borders and respond firmly to any future threats.
