Asia Cup 2025: India wins toss chooses to fields First, Pakistan begins batting
The high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash between Pakistan and India began in a packed stadium filled with fans from both sides. Both captains walked out for the toss, but like their last encounter, they did not shake hands.
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to field first. Explaining his choice, he said that during yesterday’s training session, there was heavy dew on the pitch, which influenced his decision. He added that the team has been approaching every game like a knockout, so their mindset remains unchanged. Yadav also pointed out that the Dubai pitch is slower compared to Abu Dhabi. Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy returned to the Indian playing XI.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s captain, Salman Agha, admitted he would have preferred bowling first but said the team is ready for the new challenge with batting. He mentioned that the dressing room atmosphere is normal and the team aims to play good cricket.
Pakistan made two changes in their lineup: Faheem Ashraf and Hussain Talat came in, while Mohammad Nawaz and Khushdil Shah were rested.
