Mayor: KMC to begin repairing rain-damaged roads on Sunday
Karachi: Mayor Murtaza Wahab has announced that the KMC will commence repairs to rain-damaged roads across the city starting from Sunday.
Speaking to the media, Wahab said that repair work will begin on 106 KMC roads that were damaged during recent rains. He noted that some people had criticized the condition of Shahrah-e-Bhutto and the Hub Canal. “They visited the construction site of Shahrah-e-Bhutto’s third phase just to make videos,” he remarked.
Wahab added that these critics disappeared during the disaster and are now questioning others despite failing to stand by their own leader.
The mayor confirmed that about 20 meters of the under-construction old Hub Canal was damaged, but the repair work on that section will be completed by tonight.
It is worth mentioning that a portion of Shahrah-e-Bhutto’s third phase was washed away after heavy rainfall caused the Malir River to overflow, following downpours in the Kirthar mountain range catchment area.
