Karachi listed as sixth most polluted city in the World
Karachi’s air quality has worsened once again as changing wind patterns pushed the city to sixth place among the world’s most polluted cities.
According to the latest air quality data, the level of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in Karachi’s air has reached 158 micrograms per cubic meter, a level considered “unhealthy” for residents.
The Met Office explained that easterly winds are currently blowing across the city, making the weather hot and dry. The temperature is around 28°C with humidity at 73%. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise to 35°C, while nights and early mornings will feel slightly cooler.
Across most parts of the country, mainly dry weather is expected over the next twelve hours, with colder conditions in hilly areas during the night and early morning.
Morning temperatures recorded in major cities were: Islamabad 15°C, Lahore 21°C, Karachi 26°C, Peshawar 17°C, Quetta 10°C, Gilgit 9°C, Murree 7°C, and Muzaffarabad 13°C.
In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the weather is expected to remain cold and dry in Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramula, while Jammu will stay dry. Morning temperatures were: Srinagar 8°C, Jammu 17°C, Leh -3°C, Pulwama and Anantnag 7°C, Shopian 5°C, and Baramula 10°C.
