Karachi: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has announced the closure of the Hub Canal for 48 hours to carry out essential maintenance and a detailed technical survey.
According to a WAPDA spokesperson, the shutdown will take place from October 28 to October 29, 2025, during which all water flow through the canal will remain suspended.
The spokesperson added that the Project Director of Hub Dam has officially informed the Karachi Water Corporation (KWC) about the scheduled shutdown. A formal notification has also been issued, outlining the maintenance plan and the duration of the canal’s closure.
As per the WAPDA notification, the decision has been taken to facilitate repair and rehabilitation work from Hub Dam to the X-Regulator section, which is essential for the system’s long-term functionality.
Water Supply to Be Affected in Several Karachi Districts
According to the Karachi Water Corporation spokesperson, water supply will remain temporarily suspended in several parts of District West, Kemari, and Central during the maintenance period.
The spokesperson has urged citizens to use water cautiously during this time to avoid inconvenience, assuring that the supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed.
