RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that Pakistan is taking firm steps to free Balochistan from the curse of India-backed militancy and extremist elements.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief met participants of the 17th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

Speaking to the participants, Field Marshal Asim Munir said that Balochistan is the pride of Pakistan, and its people are patriotic, talented, and resilient, serving as the province’s real strength.

He highlighted that both the federal and provincial governments are working on development projects to improve the province’s social and economic structure. He urged all stakeholders to rise above political interests to ensure lasting peace and prosperity in the region.

The Army Chief appreciated the constructive role of civil society and emphasized empowering and guiding the youth for sustainable development.

He said that India-backed proxies and extremist groups are promoting violence and anti-development agendas in the province. However, he assured that all necessary measures are being taken to eliminate terrorism and restore complete peace in Balochistan.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire for peace and stability in the region, but made it clear that any violation of national sovereignty would receive a strong and decisive response to protect the lives and property of the Pakistani people.

The session concluded with an open question-and-answer discussion between the Army Chief and the participants.
