Education department confirms 2.5-Month winter vacation for schools

As the winter season begins and exams commence in schools across Pakistan, academic activity has intensified. Winter vacations have now been officially announced in Punjab and Balochistan, giving students a much-needed break.

Long Winter Break in Balochistan

School students in Balochistan will enjoy one of the longest wintry weather holidays this year. The provincial education department has announced that all government colleges will remain closed for two and a half months, beginning from December 16, 2025.

Meanwhile, exams for grades 1 to 7 are currently being held in Chaman, and the grade 8 board exams will begin on November 24, 2025.

Punjab Announces Winter Holidays

Punjab has also shown its wintry weather break schedule. Schools will be closed from December 23, 2025, to January 11, 2026, and classes will resume on January 13, 2026.

There have been rumours about early closures because of smog, but the provincial government has denied this and clarified that no such selection has been made.

Schools Closed in Mansehra, KPK

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the district administration in Mansehra has introduced a quick three-day closure for all government and private schools. This holiday duration, from November 22 to November 24, 2025, is because of a by-election being held in the NA-18 constituency on November 23, 2025.

Officials say the temporary closure is meant to ensure safety and keep away from any unwanted incidents during the election process.
