KARACHI: Mostly cloudy skies are expected to prevail over Karachi over the next three days, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms possible in some areas, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said Sunday.
The maximum temperature in the port city is expected to range between 31 degrees Celsius and 33°C today, the department said.
Sea breezes from the southwest were blowing at 11 kilometers per hour, according to the Met Office.
Humid conditions with drizzle during morning and night hours are forecast for Karachi on Monday and Tuesday, the department added.
The latest outlook comes as a pronounced low-pressure area over Rajasthan has weakened further and become a low-pressure system, the PMD said.
Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are affecting most parts of the country, the department said.
Rain with thunderstorms is expected Sunday in several Sindh districts, including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas and Badin.
The department also forecast rain with thunderstorms in Sanghar, Khairpur, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad and Matiari.
Rain is likely in Ghotki, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot and other districts.
The forecast follows light rain and drizzle that occurred in various parts of Karachi over the past 24 hours.
The highest rainfall in the city was recorded in Gulshan-e-Hadeed at 4.5 millimeters, according to the Met Office.
Surjani Town received 4 millimeters of rain, while 3.4 millimeters was recorded in Gulshan-e-Maymar.
Drizzle was also reported at Jinnah Terminal, Old Airport, Korangi and North Karachi, among other areas.
